Franck and Hertz versus Townsend: A study of two types of experimental error (1989)

unapi

Description “In this paper I shall argue that the contrast between the so-called success of Franck and Hertz--`so-called' since their original conclusion was in error--and the failure of Townsend illustrates a categorical distinction between two types of error that may occur in the execution of an experiment: an error on the level of interpretation and an error in the background theory or method.”
