“In the warehouse”: Privacy, property and priority in the early Royal Society (1992)

unapi

Description “In this paper, I reexamine a particular (and well-known) episode in the history of intellectual property disputes, namely the controversy between Robert Hooke and Christiaan Huygens over the invention of the balance-spring watch in 1675. At issue was the problem of whether the Royal Society was competent to act as an arbiter in something that concerned a man's trade.”
