Elias Artista: A precursor of the Messiah in natural science (1984)

unapi

Description The utopian figure of Elias Artista is a creation of Paracelsus. This figure connects elements of a social utopia and of the concept of scientific progress. The coming of Elias Artista was expected by many chemists and physicians during the 16th and 17th centuries (e.g. Helmont and Glauber), and the concept was still known to Leibniz, Becher, and Kunckel.
