Description “This paper will examine the argument of Duns Scotus with an eye to understanding (1) the Aristotelian background in the science of physics and the pressure on Duns Scotus to revise it, (2) the problem of angels and place as theologically requiring an excursion into physics, and (3) the actual occupancy of place by angels. In conclusion, we can evaluate the distance from Aristotle's Physics to the physics of angels articulated by Duns, evaluate the position concerning angels in place, as Duns develops it, and indicate further historical reverberations.”
