Decomposing Newton's rainbow (1984)

unapi

Description “We shall examine Newtonian reverbations in Neoclassical and Romantic poetry as a problem in the history of ideas: How are images from early science transmitted to literature, translated into poetry, and transformed by the poetic process? To approach these questions, we shall focus on a particular optical and poetic image and its history in physics and in literature: the image of the rainbow.”
